Instance logos
Give an instance its own badge — a symbol and colour, or a picture of your own.
On this page 3 sections
MSL draws every instance as its distro's symbol in its distro's colour. That is right until you have four Debians — then the sidebar is four identical rows and the name is the only thing telling them apart.
Click an instance's badge — in the sidebar, or the big one in the instance header — and pick something else. Change Logo… in the right-click menu opens the same panel.
What you can pick#
| Faction | Sixty symbols in five groups — Creatures, Banners, Work, Places and Marks. Click the one you've already chosen to clear it. |
| Colour | Twelve colours. With none chosen, the badge keeps the distro's own. |
| Open… | A picture of your own, from anywhere on your Mac. |
Pictures#
Open… takes any image your Mac can read. MSL copies it in rather than remembering where it was, so moving, renaming or deleting the original later doesn't leave you with a blank badge. The copy is squared off from the middle and stored small — a badge is 44 points at most, so there's no point keeping a twelve-megapixel photo for it.
A picture covers the symbol, so the faction grid dims while one is showing. Remove Picture brings the symbol back without losing the faction and colour you chose.
Reset to Default#
At the top, beside Open…. It drops everything — symbol, colour and picture — and the instance goes back to looking like its distro.
